Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, Pigment Epithelium-derived Factor, and Renal Function Determinants in Type 2 Diabetics in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria: A Case–Control Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Context: the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and pigment epithelium-derived (PEDF) on renal function diabetics is unclear.
Objective: This study investigated relationship between VEGF, PEDF urea, creatinine estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in type 2 diabetics.
Materials Methods: 100 50 controls were recruited into this case-control study. Analytes determined by standard methods. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05 95% Confidence interval.

Results: (p=0.0001), urea (p=0.024) (p=0.026) significantly higher than but eGFR comparable (p>0.05) both groups. VEGF with eGFR<60 ml/min >60 ml/min. Renal parameters did not correlate either or PEDF.
Conclusion: plasma are there seem to be no association determinants PEDF.

Pigment epithelium-derived factor: clinical significance in estrogen-dependent tissues and its potential in cancer therapy

Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a glycoprotein that belongs to the family of non-inhibitory serpins. The broad spectrum of PEDF biological activity is evident when considering its effects in promoting cell survival and proliferation, as well as its antiangiogenic, antitumor, and anti-metastatic properties. Although the structural domains of the PEDF gene that mediate such diverse ef...

P-185: Expression and Function of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Fallopian Tuben Carrying Ectopic Pregnancy

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is an angiogenic growth factor that is produced by different tissues, including the endometrium and ovary. VEGF is involved in many processes related to reproductive physiology, including angiogenesis, which is essential for implantation and placentation. It has been suggested that VEGF may be the angiogenic factor responsible for the implan...

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression in Oral Lichen Planus: A Comparative Study

Background and aim: Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory disease with an uncertain pathogenicity. Recent reports have revealed that angiogenesis is effective in the pathogenesis and biologic behavior of lesions. Considering the limitations of the studies related to angiogenesis in oral LP (OLP) and the controversial results, the present study aimed to compare the expression of vascular ...

Expression of pigment epithelium derived factor and vascular endothelial growth factor in choroidal neovascular membranes and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy.

AIMS To determine whether pigment epithelium derived factor (PEDF), a protein that inhibits angiogenesis, is expressed in human choroidal neovascular membranes (CNVMs) and in tissues from an eye with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). In addition, to compare the expression of PEDF with that of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a known stimulator of angiogenesis, in these tissues....
